Latest News and Updates for Indiana Jones 4 (thanks to TheRaider.Net):

    August 12, 2007
/Film reports that Lucasfilm has filed for six possible titles for Indiana Jones 4 with the Motion Pictures Association of America. The proposed titles include:   – Indiana Jones and the City of Gods – Indiana Jones and the Destroyer of Worlds – Indiana Jones and the Fourth Corner of the Earth – Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – Indiana Jones and the Lost City of Gold – Indiana Jones and the Quest for the Covenant

The City of Gods has been long rumored to be the working title of the production. And while a Spielberg spokesperson has said that City of Gods is not it (that was in May 2007), fans and news reporters still say this is the most credible title.

We’ll just have to wait and see if George Lucas and Spielberg go with one of these titles or something completely different.

In a new video at IndianaJones.com Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, Harrison Ford, Kathleen Kennedy, and George Lucas discuss getting the Indiana Jones family back together for the next adventure in the Indiana Jones series.
The new video shows clips from the previous three Indiana Jones films—calling it the “Indy Trilogy” seems no longer appropriate—as well as a few brief behind-the-scenes glimpses of Indiana Jones 4!

BBC Birmingham has published a great article by Brett Birks who recently interviewed film student Dan Yeates. Dan is the godson of Ray Winstone and he has just spent four days on the set of Indiana Jones 4.
We’ll “Try not to hate him too much” but it’s hard when you read Dan Yeates’ comments on his experience:

“When Ray was up doing his scenes I’d sit in his chair,” Dan says. “Steven Spielberg was sat one side of me, George Lucas the other. Meanwhile Ray was doing a scene with Harrison Ford. It was quite surreal.”

Dan – who’s studying Television Production and Journalism at university– jumped at the chance to visit Ray in LA, where the cockney actor plays Indiana Jones’ sidekick in the swashbuckling adventure film.

“It was just incredible,” he says. “I was stunned at how big the production is. In the studio we were in they must have had six or seven gigantic sets all built there.”

For every true fanboy though, Dan got to live the ultimate dream: witnessing Indiana Jones – kitted out in full attire – use his bullwhip to fend off some baddies.

“When Harrison Ford walked on set – wow! He’s quite shy and reserved. I know people are worried about him playing Indy at his age but I can tell you first hand that as soon as Steven yelled ‘Action!’ Harrison was throwing himself into everything, doing all the stunts they’d let him.”

You can read the full article, with more exciting quotes from Dan Yeates, online at BBC Birmingham.

Russian photo agency EastNews has a series of 8 new spy-photos from the Hawaii set of Indiana Jones 4 available for registered members. Regular visitors, like ourselves, have to do it with only small thumbnail versions of these photos. But that doesn’t make them any less SPOILER HEAVY!
So if you like SPOILERS; click here to view the Hawaii set of Indy 4 photo thumbnails. You can also view these same thumbnails at the Harrison Ford Web homepage.

When these photos were taken is unknown. The shooting on location in Hawaii ended a couple of weeks ago. They are now filming Indy 4 on closed sets in Los Angeles at the moment.

Latest News and Updates in the Tomb Raider fan community:

The 3rd Village of Tokakeriby fan fiction competition’s winner has been announced! Congratulations to Acid_Rush whose story “Nothing Alike” won first place. You can now find her story along with Dr. Amazing’s “Anniversary” and Harmoniad’s “Haunted by the Past” at the Croft Codex.

    IndyCroft is Back!!!!!!!

Yes that’s right, IndyCroft.com is finally back! I’d like to apologize for the long wait. What originally was only meant to be a month long hiatus turned into a nearly 7 month hiatus. Working full time and going to school takes up most of my time now so I had to put IndyCroft on hold for a while. But I’m glad to say that I’ve had more time recently to put in the effort this site deserves.

    List of Updates:

    • Brand new design!! Complete with a new portal where vistors can choose to view the main site for the full experience or be directed to our new easy to navigate site map.

    • New Non-fiction section added to Library. New section consists of Interviews, Essays, and my Field Journal.

    • New Fan Art in the Gallery – Diana Dorrow has been kind enough to provide IndyCroft with her latest TR Anniversary cosplay pictures. Adam McDaniel has been kind enough to let IndyCroft post his fantastic Indiana Jones artwork. Ashka, the webmaster of Lara’s Album, has given IndyCroft permission to post his original Lara Croft renders. Our final addition to the gallery comes from Cyndi, who was kind enough to send us an awesome wallpaper she made featuring both Lara Croft and Indiana Jones.

    • New Tomb Raider Fan Fiction – We have several new stories for the TR fan fic section from some veteran TR fan fic writers. Ostercy, Sarah Crisman, and Heidi Ahlmen have been kind enough to allow IndyCroft to post their stories.

    • And Much More!

Now for some news around the Tomb Raider Fan Community:

I recently filled out the Tomb Raider fan fiction author questionaire over at the Croft Dossier that was also filled out by several veteran TR fan fic authors (Ostercy, Sarah Crisman, Dr. Amazing, Rhys D, and Rob Simmons). So go and check them out!

The Village of Tokakeriby just recently had their third TR fan fiction competition, unfortunately the competition was announced during the widespread controversy that has now become known as “Katiegate”. The VOT fan fiction competition’s founder, Ostercy, was banned and silenced by several major Tomb Raider forums due to his opinion of fellow TR fan fic writer, Katie Fleming. It was a rather silly thing for so many to have gotten so upset about, but it’s brought to light that some places in this community do not respect our right to any sort of opinion if it goes against their own beliefs. Unfortunately as a result, all the threads Ostercy had posted about the competition were removed, so the competition didn’t receive too many entries, but it received enough to keep the comp open. Entires are as follows:

    • Anniversary by Dr. Amazing

    • Origins by Fallen Angel

    • Nothing Alike by Acid Rush

    • Haunted by the Past by Harmonaid

The competition is now closed for submission, and the winner will be announced soon. I’d like to wish all four authors good luck. If you’re a Tomb Raider fan fiction author and missed this VOT competition do not worry, they will be holding a fourth competition that will be open for submission until November 18th. Click Here for more information.

Also while IndyCroft has been gone we’ve seen the release of Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Crystal Dynamics revisioning of the first Tomb Raider game. This game was received with a lot of mixed feelings, especially from Core Design loyalists. As it’s well known within the fan community, Core Design was working on their own Tomb Raider remake, Tomb Raider Anniversary Edition. We all remember the leaked trailer that was posted on YouTube and then was removed shortly there after, when Eidos had to do damage control. Though Crystal Dynamics verison was a good play, and I personally enjoyed it a lot more than their first attempt at rebooting the TR franchise (Tomb Raider: Legend), most of us know that what Core was working on would never be matched by Crystal Dynamics. Core’s verison would’ve been superior, there’s no doubt. Unfortunately little was known about their verison, until now. Thanks to Planet Lara, they’ve updated their sister site Tomb Raider Anniversary.com with previously unreleased information and concept art for Core Design’s TR Anniversary Edition. So if you’re dying to know what could’ve been head on over and check it out.

Now for some exciting Indiana Jones news. When IndyCroft was last online we saw the confirmation from Steven Spielberg and George Lucas that Indiana Jones 4 was given the greenlight and would begin filming. The 4th installment into the series has been filming for two months now and we’re super excited! At this years Comic Con in San Diego, California, guests received an exciting surprise. Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Ray Winstone, and Shia LaBeouf spoke through a live feed from the set of the film about how excited they are to be back and to be apart of the new movie. Along with this treat Steven Spielberg brought out a woman we’ve been hoping to see return, Karen Allen. Ms. Allen will be repraising her role as Marion Ravenwood in the 4th installment!

Head on over to the Official Indiana Jones website, where you can see the video shown at Comic Con along with a behind-the-scenes video for the cast and crew at work on the set.

Indy will also be making a return to video games. ”Indiana Jones 2007” as the next-gen video game was dubbed, unfortunately was pushed back. It’s still unknown if the game will have any connection to the fourth film, and if it will be released simultaneously with the movie. But do not worry, coming in 2008 from the makers of LEGO Star Wars, comes LEGO Indiana Jones. Click here to view the trailer. Screenshots will be arriving soon.

And that’s it! We do have a lot more updates in the future (an Information and Media section will be coming soon). Also IndyCroft is nothing without the fans of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider, so if you’re a fan fiction writer, a fan art artist, cosplayer, or have made fan videos, send them our way and we’ll post them on the site!

Thanks again for your continued support!

    IndyCroft Closing for the Holidays

As the title says, IndyCroft will be closing for the holidays. The site won’t be shutdown permanently, it’s just until after Christmas and the New Year so I can do some much needed updating. Over the past several months my personal life has been preventing me from taking care of the site properly and getting things updated. So I plan on doing a huge site update over the holidays since I’ll have more free time.

I wish all of IndyCroft’s visitors a very Happy Holidays and New Year, and we’ll see you in 2007!

    Thanks,

    L.E. Croft

Major Updates for IndyCroft Coming Soon

Dear Visitors (if there’s any left…lol),

I know IndyCroft.com hasn’t been updated in a very long time, and I’m sorry about that. I’ve had some major computer troubles over the last few months, in a nutshell my computer had a stroke. So because of that I had absolutely no access to anything. But to make it up to you all in the coming weeks I’ll be doing some major updating. So you can look forward to that. :)

Thanks for your patience and for continuing to visit the site.

Spielberg Taking a “Wait-and-See” Stance on Indy 4?

Variety.com posted an article about George Lucas’ empire of money-making franchises, where they ended their story with the following paragraph that brings some question of whether or not recent reports are 100% accurage:

“There’s also that other little franchise Lucas is a part of: Indiana Jones. A long-gestating fourth installment is still on the radar. But even Steven Spielberg, Lucas’ partner on the action series, is taking a wait-and-see view. The helmer says the notoriously picky Lucas continues to nix drafts of the fourth Indy script.”

Of course, none of this comes with any actual quotes from either George Lucas or Steven Spielberg, so who knows? I hate it when they do that. This report from Variety conflicts with the information gathered from an interview Lucas did with MTV last week, where Lucas stated that the script for Indiana Jones 4 was finished and could begin filming this year. When will the uncertainty be lifted from this long-awaited film? Stay tuned to find out… some day.

First Look at Next-Gen Indy Game

LucasArts has released the first look at the next-generation Indiana Jones video game (Indiana Jones 2007 is the working title), and it is impressive! The first look includes ten screenshots from the new Indy game and a trailer. The screenshots show Indy in San Francisco fighting some baddies in the streets and atop a cable car. The trailer is fashioned after the old newsreels of the 1930s and 40s with a look at the LucasArts “labs” where new technology is being developed for the next-generation of video gaming. The trailer includes about a minute and a half of game footage from the new Indy adventure, including shots of Indy whipping a gun from the hand of a bad guy, firing his revolver to set off explosions and lots and lots of good ol’ fashioned Indy fighting action. The scenes in the trailer appear to be in-game but we haven’t confirmed that yet. If this is indeed in-game footage, then we have one heck of a ride to look forward to! Here are a few screenshots from LucasArts:

The trailer really gives you an idea as to what DMM, Hot Set and euphoria have to offer by showing Indy throwing bad guys into cars multiple times (with never the same animation) and into fruit stands (with plenty of wood splinters). And as always, LucasArts has succeeded once again in capturing the look of Indiana Jones with his gear, which looks to be the most accurate of all the video game Indy’s throughout LucasArts’ history. 2007 is looking very, very exciting!

Visit LucasArts to check out the full trailer and more screenshots, and check back for continuing coverage!

LucasArts Dishes Out More Info on New Indy Game

LucasArts has released even more information of the new Indiana Jones video game for next-generation consoles set for release sometime in 2007. In this new press release from E3, LucasArts reveals just how cutting-edge and (for lack of a better word) awesome this new Indy game adventure will be:

    Indiana Jones® 2007 [working title]
Indiana Jones returns in 2007 for his most incredible interactive expedition ever. Set in 1939, this epic, original story – written for the first time under the direction of George Lucas – puts you in the fedora of the legendary adventure hero as he unravels the clues found in ancient artifacts spanning the globe. From San Francisco’s Chinatown to the world’s most sacred ground, Indy must use his fists, whip and trusty revolver to fight through ruthless opposition and piece together a mystery of biblical proportions. Indiana Jones 2007 is LucasArts’ first internally developed project for PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and it also represents the first collaboration of talents and technology between LucasArts and Industrial Light & Magic, two companies now finally under one roof at the new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco’s Presidio district.

Indiana Jones 2007 debuts the revolutionary new euphoria technology from NaturalMotion, which delivers never-before-seen lifelike action and awareness to every character in real time – so you’ll never see the same thing twice. For the first time ever, euphoria enables interactive characters to move, act and even think like actual human beings, adapting their behavior on the fly and resulting in a different payoff every single time. This next-gen technology imbues Indy and his opponents with unparalleled environmental awareness and survival instincts. They’ll stumble, then attempt to maintain their balance; brace themselves for falls, then get back up; and reach for nearby ledges when falling. Each action results in an authentic, varied performance every time.

Complementing euphoria will be Pixelux Entertainment’s Digital Molecular Matter (DMM) technology, which brings a level of realism to next-gen games never seen before by making completely interactive environments that react as they would in real life. From crumbling walls to shattering glass and even swaying organic plant life, in-game objects have material properties that behave realistically all in real time.

Indiana Jones 2007 also features completely interactive Hot Set™ environments, where every setting is open-ended and completely destructible in a way that only next-generation consoles can deliver. Use your wits and daring to make each spring-loaded environment a weapon as you dispense of foes in clever and unexpected ways. Also, embark upon thrilling chase sequences that remain true to the spirit established in scenes such as Indy’s pursuit of the motorcade in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the mine-cart scene in The Temple of Doom, and the free-for-all aboard the tank in The Last Crusade. Face Indy off against a devious longtime rival, reunite him with old friends, and meet more of his most trusted allies throughout the world.

Sounds mighty impressive, this certainly is exciting news. We now know when it’s set (1939 – perfect year) and that there is promise of familiar faces and a longtime rival (but who?). And just when you thought this new euphoria dealie was good enough, LucasArts springs two more new video game technologies (the “Digital Molecular Matter” technology and the “Hot Set” environments). All the more to make this new game the most exciting and promising Indy game LucasArts has announced. And like many Indy fans and gamers I can’t wait to get to play this game.
