My name is L.E. Croft, obviously not my real name but it’s what I’m known by on the internet. IndyCroft.com has been an on going labor of love for me, unfortunately I don’t have a whole lot of time to dedicate to it these days, but I do what I can when possible. The site has been running for quite a few years now, and it’s my hope that it will still be around for many more to come. One of the reasons I decided to create IndyCroft.com was to be a kind of sanctuary for my fan fiction. Which if you haven’t gathered already, I write Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider fan fiction.
Tales of Prophecy, my Indy/TR crossover series, has been something I’ve been working on longer than IndyCroft.com. It started out as a series of pretty badly written short stories. lol I go back and read them occasionally and can’t help but laugh most of the time. Comparing it to my writing now, I have improved greatly and I’m still improving. That’s one of the rewarding things about writing, you continually evolve and grow, becoming better with each story you write.
After I finished my 5th or 6th short story I decided to stop and go back to the very first story I had written. I made the decision to do a complete overhaul on the story, rip it to complete shreds and rewrite it as a novel. It eventually became The Final Crusade of the Holy Grail, the first book in the series. I am not certain about how many books there will be before I’m done, and I pretty much don’t worry about it. Something all writer’s learn is that you can’t push yourself, you have to go with the flow.
Besides writing and trying to keep the website alive, I’ve been working towards a degree in archaeology. Starting a career in archaeology has been something I’ve set my sights on since I was a little girl. Growing up, my grandfather and I use to collect Native American arrowheads and fossils. For a time I actually wanted to take up paleontology, but after becoming introduced to the ancient world of the Egyptians and the Greeks, I found myself unable to resist the alluring mysteries archaeology held. Plus I grew up watching the Indiana Jones movies, and like many archaeologists, the movies inspired me.
So this blog is basically going to serve as a gateway into the world of both archaeology and fan fiction. I’ll share some of my own experiences along with posting articles and other useful info. Occasionally I may post something off-topic that is of interest and worth discussing. I have comments turned off, in order to avoid the spam issue, but I do welcome your thoughts and questions. You’re more than welcome to email me and I’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
Until next time,
~L.E.
