Tomb Raider Reborn is a fan based project that began roughly three years ago. The goal of the project is to finish off the Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness storyline. Below is a brief intro to what the project is about. The project is still currently in development.

A story written by L.E. Croft and TwiinPistols will be presented by storyteller and Lara Croft voice actress Jenni Milward. You will be taken through this exciting continuation of Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness with Jenni who will tell a story punctuated by imaginative artwork and effective music to emphasise those more important moments. Discover what Lara did next, what happened to Kurtis,  and much much more.

For updates and further information regarding the project you can go to the Tomb Raider Reborn official website here.

Yeah it's been a long road, lots of hills to overcome, but things are coming along nicely. I'm excited to see it all come together in the end. I think Tom has laid out a pretty solid idea for the project and it will be cool to see how it all turns out. Grin

Yeah, its definitely been a challenge but I think its going to be good when it all comes together, I'm excited about what that will be like! L.E's been a great help to me and the project though. Hosting Reborn is just one aspect of that.

Yep, well we've had some problems off and on with being hosted by other sites. So I figured it would be best if we had something within our own control. Hosting on IndyCroft seemed like the best option and cheapest way to go, since all I would have to buy was an additional domain name.

They say there's no such place as Paradise. Even if you search to the ends of the Earth, there's nothing there. No matter how far you walk, it's always the same road. It just goes on and on. But, in spite of that. Why am I so driven to find it? A voice calls to me. It says, "Search for Paradise".

A lot of other people had a hard time with the game as well and the game got panned by critics. Despite good enough sales Core Design's reputation was ruined and Eidos handed the series over to Crystal Dynamics who decided to start again with a new storyline. After this, many Core Design employees left with the Smith brothers to work for their new company Circle studios while the ones that stayed on started working on their own remake of Tomb Raider 1 and a game called Free Running - only Free Running would be released due to the cancellation of their remake in favour Crystal Dynamics' own version.

Soon after the announcement that Core Design's remake was cancelled, Eidos announced that Core Design staff would be sold onto Rebellion, a publisher and development company that specialises in film based games.

Due to various reasons, Circle Studios went bust in early 2007. Smith gave it another try with Crush Digital which was supposed to be a serious gaming development company. A puzzle game called 'Blender' (based on colours) was planned for release and next gen titles (one rumoured to be a TR like title) was in the pipeline. But it wasn't to be. Crush Digital also went bust earlier this year and smith is now looking for work outside the games industry. I don't blame him.
Its recently emerged that concept art and storyline details for Tomb Raider could have ended up on a rubbish heap somewhere in England following the demise of Circle who retained their Angel of Darkness material until the point of liquidation.

So that's why there's no AOD2. Sad

Tomb Raider Reborn seems like the only hope of continuing something in the spirit of Core Design right now.

Yeah, they've pretty much left us devoted fans with no choice other than to create a proper ending ourselves. There's a whole slew of AOD fan fiction out there. And there have been other projects geared towards continuing what Core started, however, majority of them didn't get very far and just faded away.

We've gathered as much information as we can about earlier concepts for AOD and for AOD2. So we're hoping to get our story as close as possible to what may have been intended. There's a lot of guess work involved though, because there's no way we'll ever really know. It's a sad fact, but I think what we've pieced together will bring things full circle and answer any lingering questions.

That's true. There's very little in reality about AOD2 but original AOD does contain plenty of information to base a convincing fanmade sequel on. I'm interested to see what people will make of Reborn once its finished. Smiley
